ART BELONGS TO EVERYONE
Ever since humans found their calling to art, even with cave art, or the beginning of music, everyone had access to it. Those who studied more, perfected their techniques, learned, have always been a superior kind of artist, you could say. They have more ways to share their version of Art.
However, since then, art belonged to everyone, and the more tools theyhad, the more they could expand even if their artistic vision and performance.
Then, here comes the curse of the human world: "economics" and "greed".
more modern "economics"rose to power, greed started taking over, and Art little by little was minimized for those who lacked the access to instruction - which is not cheap - or had the connections to a label or a manager. This only kept getting worse, until we had more tools like the arrival of the .mp3 format, then the share programs like Napster which opened so many new possibilities and the industry finally returned (to a degree) to the level we saw in the 50s or 60s, when people would record a demo, and it was based more on their talent than connections. I reiterate, "more" but not enough.
Even more so, those who suffered, were people - and still are- who wanted to learn about Art... and the industry, again, made it very expensive first with 8 tracks and Vinyl records, then they promised prices would go down with the arrival of the CD, it was a lie. Production costs were now a lot lower, yet CDs were more expensive than their old counterparts.
Like everything in human life, we evolve, and what seemed like the only option, slowly but surely, becomes outdated. In ANY area of human kind. Now, it's the turn to democratize music and art and AI is a powerful tool to make this possible. It's time to evolve and not to be afraid of change.
To (mis)quote Jurassic Park: Not only "Life finds a way", but "Art finds a way too.
Variannis is more than just sharing music, it is a project meant to analyze and discuss this change that is still so welcome for a few, so terrifying for others.
